Job Description: Cal Poly’s Orfalea College of Business Student Services Center is looking for a part-time graphic design student to support its college-wide marketing and communications efforts. Under the supervision of Academic Advisor/ Communications Coordinator of Orfalea Student Services, the graphic designer will plan, design, and develop print, web, and other collateral that appeals to the student body, staff, and faculty within strict deadlines. Applicants must be fluent in the Adobe Creative Suite programs, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Applicants must be able to take direction and interpret brand standards to create functional and attractive pieces, responding quickly to feedback. Ideally, candidates will be able to to translate programmatic elements from our office into marketing collateral with minimal direction. Please be prepared to show examples of your previous design work.
The schedule is flexible within the confines of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. M-F. This position is open to all majors who have the right skill set and attitude to help our students succeed.
Job Qualifications:
Requirements
• Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite
• Ability to create brochures, flyers, multi-page documents, digital signage, etc. for marketing purposes
• Ability to brainstorm and mock up design ideas for marketing programs
• Ability to design web content and prepare files and images for the web
• Ability to design physical collateral and prepare files and images for print
• Ability to focus on multiple tasks and deadlines and effectively prioritize them
• Adhere to strict deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
• Photography skills
• Social media campaign experience
• Proficiency in Adobe Dreamweaver and HTML
