Biography

Steve Standifer is the Equipment Technician for Cal Poly's Graphic Communication Department, where he combines technical expertise with a passion for innovation. Steve has been instrumental in maintaining and optimizing the department’s diverse portfolio of advanced printing and production systems, including digital and UV printers, laser cutters, and wide-format equipment. He manages facility planning, preventive equipment maintenance, and inventory control, ensuring seamless integration of state-of-the-art technologies into instructional and operational workflows. As a lecturer for the GRC 400 course, Steve inspires students by blending hands-on technical instruction with insights from his extensive industry experience. He also provides support and guidance to the amazing students operating University Graphic Systems.

With a career spanning more than two decades, Steve has established himself as a leader in IT systems management, project planning, and technical troubleshooting. His expertise includes systems integration, network administration, and multimedia production. Steve’s dedication to fostering a collaborative and forward-thinking environment supports the department’s mission to prepare students with industry-ready skills.
